Future Students

prospective parents

"You can be anything when you grow up!"

If you are like my wife and me, you have been telling your child that for 18 years. In your mind maybe you were thinking about her becoming a lawyer, a doctor, an astronaut, or even President of the United States! Perhaps you were thinking your son would become an engineer, an entrepeneur, or a professor.

Instead, he or she is determined to "do something more with his or her life..."

Uh-oh.

You potentially are thrilled with this decision and couldn't dream of anything better than a lifetime of service to the local church or a Kingdom-minded non-profit.

Maybe you raised your child to think independently and do great things, but you didn't actually have this in mind! If so, you are like thousands of other parents who have gone before you, raising many of the same questions:

"Will this degree mean anything?"

"Will he be able to support his family?"

"Am I just throwing money away?"

If you are this deep into our website and still reading, then you must be serious about the potential of a future in Omaha for your child. Allow me to do all I can to put you at ease. As parents of a couple of college kids myself, I will tell you that I worry, too. But think about it. We are "worried" that our kids are actually going to make decisions based on what God is leading them to do. Utlimately, they are in His hands, and He doesn't fail on His promise to be with them always.

Also, I want you to hear that your child is NOT throwing away his future by attending Nebraska Christian. He will be in the classroom with dedicated professors, and he will be rubbing shoulders with some of the finest church leaders from across the nation. One of the greatest gifts we, as a college, can provide for your child's future is a real network upon graduation. Check out The Institute for Church Leadership section of this website if you haven't yet. Did you know that our students have internship opportunities at national leading churches like Saddleback, Willow Creek, Eastside Christian, First Christian Huntington Beach, and Southland Christian? Did you know that we have dozens of great churches regionally where they can intern, serve, learn, and grow? We have alumni in virtually all shapes and sizes of dynamic growing churches.

It is true that ministry is a calling, but it is not career-suicide. A down economy doesn't stop the Kingdom of God from growing. I would love the opportunity to tell you about pastors I have met across the country who are looking for young dynamic leaders who get it. They are looking for youth pastors, worship leaders, church planters, campus pastors, and all sorts of ministry leaders who are tooled and ready. They are leading one of the ten thousand churches that are still growing in America. Your student will be around these types of pastor-leaders in the classroom and at The Institute at Nebraska Christian.

You can call or email me anytime. I'd love to discuss this further with you and help in any way that I can.

You can relax. Keep praying, but relax. If your child has leadership ability, we are going to do all that we can to deploy him or her into the greatest hope our country has - The Local Church!

God has brought you to this point for a reason, and He will not abandon you or your child. It's our hope that you have raised much more than a future engineer or even a future President. You have a future Church Leader on your hands. Together, let's put him or her into God's hands. He knows what's best, and He'll carry out his plan.
