Our ultimate goal is to find students that will both benefit the institution and benefit from being at the institution. Because we are a Christian college that seeks to “know Christ and make Him known,” we are looking for students with authentic faith who are serious about God’s call on their life. It doesn’t matter if your faith is brand new or well-developed. You don’t have to know a lot about the Bible to go to Christian college. What we look for is a humble heart that is willing to learn and grow.
We know a student’s performance on standard tests can vary, and we know that there are a myriad of reasons grades might dip for a semester. We have students who have 4.0′s and we have students that have struggled to pass for a semester or two. We have students who score over 30 and some that score below 20 on the ACT. What we do value is your effort. Students that are engaged and working hard are students that we want to have on our campus. So, we do evaluate your grades and performance in high school or as a transfer student, but we look for reasons to admit you rather than reasons to deny you.
We value all the different gifts and talents God has given you…students who have musical and theatrical backgrounds, students that have done missions trips, students that are leaders in their high school and church, students that play sports, students that are part of the math or debate teams, students that make videos or have blogged for years….there is a place for you here, no matter what your gifts and talents may be.
Character is an equally important criteria for admission to NCC. We place a high value on students who know the importance of integrity and how their personal conduct impacts the work and effort of Christ. As you consider your references, please make sure you select people who can speak knowledgeably about you and your background.
Finally, we consider your essay. Your essay gives us insights into your ability to communicate. Since writing is one if the major skills used in our classrooms, we want to make sure all students have the ability to meet the basic writing requirements of our facility. Whether a student is writing a blog for class, a major term paper, fictional stories, or personal testimonies, that student must have an advanced understanding of the English language.
Please complete the application for admissions. Before beginning, make sure you have collected the following information:
- HS/College GPA
- ACT score (NCC’s ACT code is 2473)
- Name and contact information of your pastor/youth pastor
