Shane Wood, PhD
Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Wood is a graduate of Ozark Christian College, Lincoln Christian Seminary, and earned his PhD in organizational leadership at Regent University. With experience as both a preacher and a professor, he brings balanced approach to shaping the NCC curriculum. He is a published author in the field of leadership studies and enjoys following the Nebraska Cornhuskers and hanging out with his wife and three children.

Troy Backhuus, MA, LMHP, CPC
Associate Professor of Family Life and Counseling Ministries

Professor Backhuus is a graduate of NCC and is currently doing doctoral work at Regent University. In addition to his teaching, he also maintains a private counseling practice. Besides working with students and people in need, Mr. Backhuus enjoys woodworking. At times, his wood shop becomes a place of sanctuary away from the busyness of life.

Dan Cravatt, D.Min
Professor of Student Ministry and Children’s Ministry

With over twenty-five years of experience in youth culture, Dr. Cravatt is an active leader in and out of the classroom. He leads a ministry at the Omaha Corrections Center and serves a variety of other ministries in and around the Omaha area. He has earned degrees from Midwest Christian College, Eastern New Mexico University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Sioux Falls Seminary but his studies have never prevented him from pursing his passion for fishing.

David Haynes
Assistant Professor of Preaching Ministry

With over forty years of experience as a pastor and church planter, Professor Haynes brings wisdom and compassion into his ministry at NCC. A graduate of Ozark Christian College and Creighton University, he is active in teaching, mentoring, and counseling students to love Jesus passionately and loving others deeply.

Mark Huddleston, DMin
Professor of Missions

After several years service as a missionary with Pioneer Bible Translators, Dr. Huddleston now serves NCC as a professor of missions and languages. With an educational background that includes studies in math (Milligan College), systematic theology (Emory University), linguistics (University of Texas), and a Doctor of Ministry (Emmanuel School of Religion), Dr. Huddleston has a variety of disciplines that he brings to bear in thinking creatively about missions and church growth.

Kelvin Jones, PhD
Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies

Dr. Jones is dedicated to shaping students who understand and live out a Biblical world-view. A dedicated student of scripture, Dr. Jones has earned degrees from Boise Bible College, Cincinnati Bible Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Married and the father of seven children, Dr. Jones loves outdoor activities and an intense game of paintball.

Ron Leach
Professor of Worship Arts

After a long term worship ministry in Lexington, KY, Professor Leach felt the call to come to NCC to be part of shaping the next generation of worship leaders in the church. With a passion that genuine worship flows from an authentic heart relationship, his curriculum is both spiritual and practical, designed to be on the forefront of where the church is going instead of where the church has been.

Bob Milliken, PhD
Associate Professor of Christian Thought and Humanities

Dr. Milliken is a graduate of NCC and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He is an avid mountain climber, completing over 130 ascents. An advocate of influencing culture through the arts, Dr. Bob is the editor of Doxa, a literary journal and coordinates the annual NCC film festival. His primary claim to fame is being the brother of current NCC president, Richard Milliken.

Eric Smith
Instructor of Old Testament Studies

Eric loves teaching, studying, and challenging people to rethink the value of the Old Testament. He is also passionate about the church and leading the church to influence culture. Eric’s undergraduate degree is in music composition and he is currently working on his PhD at Trinity College-Bristol.

Barry Stackhouse
Instructor of Worship Arts

Mr. Stackhouse brings over twenty years of experience as a professional musician, composer, and audio/visual technician to the classroom. The newest professor at NCC, he has earned degrees from the Community College of the Air Force, University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also serves at part of the worship ministry team at Calvary Christian Church in Bellevue, NE.
