The Loren T. and Melva M. Swedburg Library
In 1996, the NCC library was officially named the Loren T. and Melva M. Swedburg library in honor of the long-time and beloved Academic Dean and faculty member of Nebraska Christian College. Joining the faculty in 1953, Dean Swedburg began a work which spanned three decades. He was later joined on the faculty by his wife, Melva, who became a recognized leader in the field of Christian Education. The library is lovingly dedicated in honor of their example of a Christian walk, commitment, and love of learning.

Library Use Policy
The NC library is equipped to serve students with specially tailored facilities and services. While the library is specialized in keeping with the college’s mission, the library is also available to community users.
Two-week loan renewable – general collection. The reference collection, periodicals (bound and current), archives and rare books, reserve books are for library use only.
Please bring your selection(s) to the circulation desk for processing by the librarian.
Items are to be returned at the circulation desk during regular hours on or before the date due.
Late Fee Schedule
Items may be renewed unless another student has placed a hold on them. Renewals may be made in person or by phone.
If a student requests an item which is checked out, a request for a ‘book hold’ may be given to the library staff. The person requesting the hold will be notified when the book is returned to the library.
Loss of Materials
Checking out any library material constitutes responsibility for the return or replacement of the material. Those who lose materials still in print will be charged the amount necessary to replace the work.
During each semester, items required or recommended for class reading are placed on the reserved shelves at the instructor’s request in order to give more students access to the materials. These items must be used in the library.
Library personnel are available during library hours for assistance in locating material in researching.
A photocopier is available for student use.
The library at Nebraska Christian College has benefited greatly through the years from donations from generous friends and alumni. Donations of books, magazines, and other materials are welcomed. This is a good way to help the library build its collection. The following is a list of guidelines if you are considering making a donation to the Loren T. and Melva M. Swedburg Library:
-All donations become the property of the library.
-The donor is asked to give the materials to the library without placing any restrictions on their use and circulation.
-Donated materials which are viewed as useful to the educational programs and mission of Nebraska Christian College will be added to the library collection. Any materials which are not added to the collection will be sold to the public, given to missions, or given to other libraries. The proceeds from sale of donated items will be used to purchase new library materials or given to missions.
As the recipient, the library cannot legally appraise gifts, so no receipt will be given. An acknowledgment letter will be sent, however, which will list the items donated.
If you have any questions, please call the library at (402) 935-9440.
