Admissions

Navigating the college decision process is both exciting and daunting.  Whether you are a entering college for the first time or the last time, we know that choosing a college for your ministry preparation is important.  If you learn anything about NCC from our materials here on the website we hope these four institutional values are the four you recall an hour from now.

1) Thinking Biblically – We want students to know the Bible.  Our belief is that the Bible is God’s inspired word and that it is from the word that we begin to grasp what he fully intends for living.  All students will complete a full third of their academic work in biblical study.  Knowing the Bible gives each of our students a chance to serve the kingdom, regardless of occupation.  This is the value that anchors our motto:  To Know Christ and Make Him Known.

2) Loving Compassionately – There is no greater mandate in the Bible that loving God and loving his people.  Students learn what it means to love through service to the campus, service to the community, and service to the world. Learning to love those that cause conflict, those that instigate trouble, or those that just annoy can take a lifetime of practice, but we are confident each of our students starts the loving process here.

3) Communicating Clearly – There are many dynamics that feed the value of communicating clearly (message, delivery, reception, tone, volume, expression, etc.) but what we want for our student most of all is to simply present Jesus with clarity and conviction. Whether that is through song, literature, or verbal proclamation, we place a high value on our students being able to clearly and concisely express themselves.

4) Leading Courageously – Whether it is a man learning to lead in his home, a young missionary learning to bridge a cultural gap, a minister leading a church, or a young woman leading other women away from abusive relationships we know our students will have to learn the values and character of being a leader…ministry demands it.  In shaping our students, they learn what it means, how it feels, and why Christ’s model of servant leadership is critical to their future work.
